Got this sent to me from my co-worker and long time friend Ryan Johnson (by the way we should get drinks more often and you should allow me to smoke cigarettes) thought it was finally the retribution that Josh deserved.
It was really interesting to not have to deal with this on my own seeing as I have taken a step back from the Dakota Student and now work as the Sports Editor. I was the Editor in Chief for 2 years and had my share of shit happen as the head that I had to deal with.
It was especially interesting to watch someone else deal with it in not necessarily the terms in which I would have.
In other words, I would have been a lot bitchier.

Random Shizz
Been thinking about attractiveness and what people find interesting.

I have always loved John Stockton, seems like a relatively nice guy, dark hair, above average cheek bones and good shoulders. Also, you look at Stockton and think about how tall he is because he is a point guard and looks miniscule compared to Karl Malone or
something like that.
The man is 6'1, maybe slightly shrinking in his older age, but again granted he is only 47 yrs. old. I do however have an extremely skewed view on height (my brother is 6'10) Anyways, Stockton would look bad in long shorts, so its good that he retired and such.
Also, how come Basketball players can seem so short and actors relatively tall?

Is there some sort of movie magic that I am unaware of. In all seriousness Stockton looks shorter than 'E' from Entourage in most appearances.
I literally take comfort in knowing that Scarlett Johansson is shorter than me, like by alot. She is approximately 5'2.
Also did you know that when you type Scarlett Johansson into Google the top three words after her name are 'sexy' 'black widow' and 'ryan reynolds' and the related searches to her are Jessica Alba.
I want to know how many people typed in Scarlett Johansson and then immediately after began looking for Jessica Alba in order to make this 'google-related-search' possible.

I was in DC this summer. It was nice.
I missed the five CVS's that we
re located on the George Washington University campus (which is proba
bly one of the most unattractive campuses' in the entire world)
Anyways I noticed that their is a much larger selection of condoms and
other sexual materials on sale then I have ever seen in my home state.

For example, you have the Pleasure Pack, you have the Extended Pleasure, the Her
Pleasure, the Magnum Ecstasy in the lower corner. This was just a snippet of what was available.
Am I wrong but it seems th
at all ND like s are the blue trojans (I mean they are dependable, I get it) but really there were so many choices that I was too overwhelmed to even purchase and risk being a creeper anyways.
I think that this might be part of some huge subplot to keep North Dakotans from pro-creating. A theory that I am completely ok with, I dont think that anyone should be pro-creating in general (babies look like aliens)
Anyways I think that we should work on diversifying our condom sele
ction, just in general.
Also, they sold this too, I want to meet someone that actually uses this while at work or while doing something equally important or unimportant.

Sorry team blog spot, I broke another computer so my blogging has decreased. I have also returned to ND so the excitement yet long days of working in the Senate is gone. I no longer have the time to sift through mass amounts of Bill Simmons articles in order to get inspired.
However, some plusses to school starting.
Mad Men has returned Sunday nights on A&E, however its on at the same time as the True Blood series (I watched one episode and was turned off, watched another one and was entertained but I still have no clue what is happening)
Its Always Sunny Season 5 is back on Sept. 17 (by the way that is the 10 month anniversary of 21st birthday)
In other news, saw Basterds AMAZING
I wanted Eli Roth to kill a couple more people via giant bat (hehe Bear Jew) and I would highly recommend it. However, go to a late showing because I have a feeling that a matinee would provide the wrong crowd (i.e. old people that will walk out)
Looking forward to District 9 and the Dakota Student (on two unrelated notes)
Make sure to check out the DS this year. New and exciting stuff to come. I promise.
Have a good one.

Oh man,
So I have an hour left of work and I am sneakily adding pictures to my Facebook profile because my Internet is busted from the home and I have no way to do these things unless its from the work computers.
Anyways I get home soon. Nothing too interesting going on. Counting down the days until I am back in the Farghetto.
I miss you all and this is Joe Finley's
Mugshot. What a smug sonofabitch.

LIST TIME again
Sorry, but I have accumulated quite a list of movies to see while listening to Scene Unseen podcasts. Check them out -------->
http://www.sceneunseenpodcast.com/
There blog is great, but the podcasts are even better. So good that you can even go back and listen to their movie revies on movies you saw in 2006-07-08-9 and ongoing. Best part again is the suggestions for movies to see and insights.
One suggestion, listen to their review of 'Blindness' for some inside insight from Kevin Smith and Seth Rogen, but try really hard to not hate Rogen's laugh.
Anyways here is the list of shiz I need to see. Bolded are necessities.
* Mulholland Drive
* Last Days of Disco

* Raging Bull
* Snow Angels ( I really, really like Sam Rockwell)
* Changeling
* Gone Baby Gone
* Hamlet 2
* Matchpoint
* The Hurt Locker
* Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
* Funny Games (both versions, why not)
* Paris texas
* Magnolia
* Liberty Heights
* State of Play
* Regarding Henry
* The Fountain
* House of Sand and Fog
* Slacker
* Bobby
* I'm not there
* Poltergeist
* Adventureland
More Interesting stuff - I really need to watch THE WATCHMEN again, I dont think I gave it a good enough go.
Also want to watch/own
- Rushmore
- Brick

So........I was at work today, you know doing my job and came across this similarity.
The woman to the left was arrested for drunkenly breast feeding her child in Grand Forks, ND.
The woman to above was in 'Say Anything' with John Cusack. The similarity is ridiculous.
I showed it everyone at work. They were not impressed. I need to work with funnier people.

WFHS
This is something I sent out today, just wanted to share it with you guys.
Hi Tom,
I would like to express my concern for the West Fargo High School newspaper publication 'The Packer.'
I am a 2006 graduate of West Fargo High School and spent four years on the the staff while in attendance. Upon graduation I have moved on to work at my collegiate newspaper 'The Dakota Student' at the University of North Dakota as the Editor in Chief, News Editor and Sports Editor. I also have been offered a job at my college website FightingSioux.com and I work at Leighton Broadcasting as an on-air radio DJ.
Currently, I am in Washington DC working as a press intern in what has been thus far my most rewarding experience.
During my short time since graduation I feel that I have been able to establish some semblance of a future career in the media and/or the communication field and that without my experience at WFHS 'The Packer' I would not of been able to feel as confident or determined to follow my dream job in the journalism field.
Almost daily I am reminded that journalism, especially print journalism, is a dying field and that I will be lucky to find a job in this field. It is almost draining how often I am told that I should switch careers or move into something else.
However, I have been able to remain somewhat optimistic because the world of journalism is evolving and, as a young professional journalist, I am passionate about what is next. I feel that this generation of students and this genre of writers will discover and develop the next stage of journalism and that stifling them at any level is what will kill the industry and the hearts of young writers.
I was able to go through four years at WFHS writing for 'The Packer,' during that time our staff was able to win state and I was and am still very proud of that accomplishment. I will however note that at times our writing was questioned, a particular story during my time made state wide news and we were also censored at various times, so controversy between 'The Packer' and the administration is not new. However, the administration worked with that particular advisor and at times we were forced to remove a story, but the advisor was not removed.
I am wondering what has occured in the past three years where this relationship of working together and finding compromises diminished and was instead replaced with a decision that would hurt the students and newspaper more than aid them.
It seems that right now the relationship is not one of communication and that there has been some sort of breakdown. Superintendent Dana D. Wallace, Principal Gary Clark, and Assistant Principal Karen Olson have taken a stance that they will not budge and will not give legitmate reasoining as to why they made the finite decision to remove Newspaper Advisor Jeremy Murphy. Understandably they have made their decision and will not change it, but the quote I read in the July 2, 2009 Forum article 'West Fargo teacher, students back student newspaper advisor' deeply concerns me.
“As board members, we don’t get involved with the daily grind and politics of what happens in each particular school, so we have to respect and support those (administrative) decisions,” Gentzkow said. “Administration and principals are hired to make tough decisions, and this is one of them.”
I understand that you have spent a considerable amount of time on the board and that you understand the intricacies of working on a school board, but I will note that if it is not your job to be interested in concerns being raised and complaints from students being uttered whose job is it?
Also, what is the point of the board if not to investigate what students and fellow teachers are considering an important issue in a particular school even if it is considered "the daily grind and politics in each particular school."
I respect this board and have been pleased with the actions and decisions that have been made in the past, but I will make plea to NOT undermine the opportunities that West Fargo has given to previous graduates like myself.
I know that without the unbiased and informative education that I received at West Fargo, along with the support I would not be still pursuing this career, nor would I be as passionate about the opportunities and innovation of the industry in front of me.
I appreciate your time and urge you to consider the students and teachers opinions at the July 13 meeting instead of simply following the administration and principals that are hired to make the tough decisions.
Sincerely,
Alison Kelly

Car Jam-ing/Hornbachers
So, Im at work once again. Listening to my Zune, Ben Fold's Brick is on and I have a huge desire to start singing to it.
Ever since moving to DC for the summer I have been completely unable to sing to myself.
Before this summer I could never imagine my life without car jams. I think my co-worker would not be that wierded out if I started to sing, merely because he accepts me (interestingly enough, this is how most of my relationships go)
He would more than likely call me silly and guffaw a little bit and go back to his work. All the while I sit here pondering what kind of action would be taken against me if I became 'the wierd intern that sings in the office'
So, those of you vehicles, continue to love your car-jams and dont stop now because you never know when they will be heinously ripped from your life.

I am so excited for that first trip to the lake being able to sing.
Also, Im really excited for Hornbachers, GOD I MISS THEIR
<---------DELI.

In response to your query regarding current musical tastes, a brief, yet knowledgeable account of the ongoing musical climate is needed for a full grasp on the subject.
Currently, the ‘Y Generation’ spans across individuals born after 1985, we are known as the Internet generation and being such our age group has the ability to span our musical tastes across a broad, infinite spectrum. The Internet, also known as the world wide web, allows individuals to search the ‘interweb’ for whatever one may be interested in. For example, if one wants to find out more about A Tribe Called Quest they could type google.com into their browser and be directed to several outlets, including Wikipedia.org, which is currently the most reliable online Encyclopedia for the ‘Y Generation.’
Another outlet that the Internet provides is the ability to download and discover different forms of music. Sites such as Pandora.com and programs like Bit Torrent are helpful in providing the general public with the types of music they are interested in and because of sites like this, the ‘Y Generation’ is considered to be knowledgeable in a wide variety of musical tastes.
The above being absolute truth in stone, below is the requested list of ‘happening-indie-college-type-forms-of-musical-tastes-but-that-don’t-necessarily-define-me’ Bands from the Alison Kelly.

"From there, it was off and running: Jay Weinberg, who is a monster, stepped in on "Radio Nowhere" and drove it twice as fast. He gave "Lonesome Day" a loose groove, he beat "Born to Run" into tiny bits. In a fest full of blog bands and buzz, Jay Weinberg might have been the breakout star. And it goes on like this: "The River" under the stars, "Tenth Avenue" in the encore, a "Hard Times" that makes one wish for a Seeger Sessions revival soon."

Why make something that is relatively unpopular, generic (yet supposedly good for you) smaller.
However I will note that these granola bars probably have the best sponsors. I want to see Tiger eat one of these granola bars while tweeting.

So, I'm in DC. I am moving into journalism, more specifically print journalism.
I have a dog, a brother, a family, complicated relationships with men and a blackberry. I really enjoy it.
So, the creepy guy from Superbad is in the Jack Links beef jerky commercial. Remember the dude that hit Jonah Hill with his car and then took them to a party where he continued to make awkward phone calls. He was also in I Love You Man as the squeeky voiced dude that took Paul Rudd to a soccer match.
Anyways, I wonder if the Jack Links commercial was before or after he did I Love You Man becuase it was obviously after Superbad. And, what was the better career move. Jack Link's commercials are very funny though I always end up feeling bad for Big Foot.
Also, I came really close to calling this blog the following names, but decided I just couldnt pull it off.
- Vivrant Thing
- I left my wallet in el segundo
- Bonita Applebum
- Gunner
- Sailer Jerry
- Shaqtastic
- Stuff Journalists Like (taken)
- Uninteresting Ramblings
- Renascence
- Yahtzee
- Boom
- Screaming Infidelities
- G & T
Anyways. . . . . . . .
And that really loud annoying dude thing can always get you so far, never in his life will this actor be considered attractive. Seth Rogen, however is much better looking because he does that humble thing. And the silently funny thing. Very hott.
